Coach Mentors

Overview

Parent Coaching & Family Support helps families navigate the emotional, behavioral, and practical challenges that arise when a child or family member has complex neurodevelopmental, mental health, or social‑emotional needs. Our work provides parents with structured guidance, steady partnership, and real‑world strategies that strengthen communication, reduce reactivity, and support consistent follow‑through at home.

This service is practical, relational, and action‑oriented—designed to help families apply supportive concepts in the environments where they matter most.

Why Parent Coaching Matters

Individuals with complex profiles often rely heavily on parents for emotional regulation, executive functioning support, and daily structure. Without guidance, families can unintentionally reinforce patterns of avoidance, shutdown, or dysregulation.

Parent Coaching provides:

  • A consistent, grounded partner during challenging moments
  • Tools that help parents respond effectively without escalating intensity
  • Strategies that reinforce therapeutic goals outside of sessions
  • Support that reduces strain, confusion, and emotional exhaustion
  • Alignment across households, caregivers, and treatment providers

This work strengthens the entire family system—not just the individual receiving mentoring.

Our Approach

Parent Coaching is not therapy.

It is practical, relational, and implementation‑focused, designed to help families apply supportive strategies in real time, across home, school, and community settings.

Our work strengthens the family system, reinforces therapeutic progress, and ensures that parents have the tools and partnership needed to support long‑term stability.

What We Provide

Coach‑Mentors provides hands‑on, individualized support that helps parents respond effectively to moments of dysregulation, avoidance, rigidity, emotional intensity, or stalled functioning. Parent Coaching focuses on:

  • Strengthening communication
  • Reducing reactivity
  • Supporting boundaries and accountability
  • Understanding behavioral patterns
  • Applying therapeutic concepts at home
  • Reducing parental burnout
  • Coordinating with treatment teams

Our Parent Coaches help families shift from reactive, crisis‑driven interactions to steady, predictable, values‑aligned responses that promote stability and growth.

Core Components of Parent Coaching & Family Support

1. Strengthening Communication & Reducing Reactivity

Parents learn communication approaches that reduce escalation, support emotional regulation, and promote stability. This includes structured language, predictable responses, and strategies for navigating shutdown, avoidance, or overwhelm.

2. Boundaries, Expectations & Accountability

We help parents set clear, compassionate, and consistent expectations. Families learn how to maintain boundaries without rigidity, avoid reinforcing avoidance, and support gradual re‑engagement with routines, school, and daily responsibilities.

3. Understanding Patterns & Family Dynamics

Parent Coaches help families identify behavioral cycles—reassurance loops, over‑accommodation, emotional intensity, rigidity—and shift toward healthier, intentional interactions. Support also extends to sibling dynamics when relevant.

4. Applying Supportive Concepts in Daily Life

Parents receive practical tools for emotional regulation, structured problem‑solving, communication, flexibility building, and reinforcing predictable routines. These strategies translate therapeutic recommendations into everyday practice.

5. Reducing Parental Burnout & Increasing Confidence

We help parents share responsibility with the Coach‑Mentor team, reduce crisis‑driven interactions, maintain emotional steadiness, and build confidence in responding to difficult moments.

6. Collaborative Alignment With Treatment Providers

Parent Coaches maintain communication with therapists, psychiatric providers, school personnel, and other professionals to ensure guidance is aligned, consistent, and responsive to evolving needs.

What Parents Can Expect

Parents receive:

  • Scheduled in-person or virtual coaching sessions
  • Availability between sessions for questions or guidance
  • Support during high‑intensity or high‑avoidance moments
  • Guidance on communication, boundaries, and daily structure
  • Tools that reinforce routines, therapeutic goals, and home‑based plans
  • A steady partner who understands complex neurodivergent and mental health profiles

The goal is to help families feel supported, informed, and confident as their child works toward greater stability and independence.

Bryn Ruggiero, Parent Coach & Family Support Specialist

Introduction

Hi, I’m Bryn. I have spent much of my career helping individuals and families in various roles and settings as a peer, clinician, coach, and mentor. Some of the most meaningful moments in my work have happened when a client was able to take something discussed in session and use it in real life. Insight matters, and it becomes transformative when it leads to action, which is exactly why I am so excited about Coach- Mentors. My approach is collaborative and direct, guided by the knowledge that we all have what we need for meaningful change work already, and often what we need is adequate enough support to access it.

My work with parents is grounded in the belief that families usually do not need another person telling them everything they are doing wrong. They need a space where they can slow down, feel understood, recognize patterns, and develop practical responses that align with their values. My goal is to help parents balance compassion with boundaries, support with accountability, and protection with the gradual development of independence. I am especially interested in supporting families to communicate more clearly and avoid unintentionally reinforcing the patterns they are trying to change.

Outside of work, connecting with nature through long walks is one of the main ways I recharge. I also enjoy playing guitar and singing, yoga, football, and spending time with my family and 3 cats. I enjoy discovering new ideas and finding humor wherever I can.

I am someone who believes meaningful change happens primarily through relationships, and that self-compassion is the greatest motivator. Thanks for taking the time to get to know me!
