What we do:

Coach-Mentors provides individualized academic support that integrates instructional facilitation, executive-function coaching, emotional regulation strategies, and positive behavior support into a single coordinated model. This includes:

  • Academic mentoring for students whose learning needs extend beyond traditional tutoring
  • School attendance support and re-engagement for students experiencing avoidance or school refusal
  • Executive functioning for academics (planning, prioritizing, task initiation)
  • In-home or alternate-location learning structure when school-based instruction is not accessible
  • Performance-based academic coaching (arts, testing, presentations)
  • Instruction aligned with IEP goals, 504 plans, and district expectations
  • Positive behavior supports that reinforce engagement, flexibility, and safe participation
  • Real-time emotional regulation coaching to support timely re-entry into learning

Who it’s for:

Students of all ages who need structured academic support, improved engagement, or help navigating school expectations — especially those with complex profiles such as:

  • Students with IEPs or Section 504 plans
  • Students with autism, PDA profiles, ADHD, anxiety, or emotional disturbance
  • Students experiencing school refusal, avoidance, shutdowns, or escalating behaviors
  • Students requiring home-based or hybrid instruction due to regulation or safety concerns
  • Students who depend on consistent adult co-regulation to remain engaged
  • Students who have not succeeded with traditional tutoring or classroom-based interventions

How it Works

Coach-Mentors collaborates with families, schools, and clinicians to build academic routines, strengthen skills, and support consistent engagement — while remaining fully aligned with district expectations, IEP goals, and intervention plans.

Academic Mentoring includes:

  • Customized 1:1 support delivered in the home, dorm, library, or alternate learning environment
  • Structured routines and predictable learning environments that reduce triggers and increase readiness
  • Instructional pacing and task demands continuously adjusted based on student response and developmental readiness
  • Real-time support for emotional escalation or avoidance, with safe de-escalation and timely re-entry into instruction
  • Relationship-driven engagement, matching each student with a mentor whose communication style and personality fit their needs

Learn More

Education Support & Academic Mentoring focuses on helping students build the routines, executive functioning skills, and confidence needed to succeed in school. Many students are capable but inconsistent — strong in certain subjects or tasks, yet struggling with organization, follow-through, or emotional regulation around academic demands.

Coach-Mentors provides individualized, hands-on support in:

  • Academic mentoring and structured study routines
  • School attendance support and re-engagement
  • Executive functioning for academics (planning, prioritizing, task initiation)
  • In-home learning structure and homework completion
  • Balancing school, recreation, social life, and wellness
  • Performance-based academic coaching (arts, testing, presentations)
  • Communication with teachers, advisors, and school teams (when appropriate)

Academic needs vary widely. Some students are high-achieving but overwhelmed by workload management. Others struggle with avoidance, anxiety, or inconsistent attendance. Some need help breaking assignments into manageable steps; others need support navigating school expectations or advocating for themselves.

Coach-Mentors adapts the approach to each student’s developmental readiness, learning profile, and real-world challenges — helping them build routines that support academic success and emotional stability.

Our goal is to help students become more confident, organized, and engaged learners by reinforcing skills in real time, within their actual academic environment.
