Independent Living & Autonomy is one of the broadest and most customizable areas of service we offer. Clients often have a mix of strengths and gaps — highly capable in some domains yet struggling with basic daily-living tasks in others. Our role is to meet each client exactly where they are developmentally, identify the areas that need support, and tailor our approach to build confidence, competence, and sustainable routines.
Coach-Mentors provides individualized, hands-on support in:
- Apartment/home management (cleaning systems, organization, maintenance routines)
- Life skills coaching (meal prep, laundry, shopping, scheduling, communication)
- Money management & budgeting
- Financial literacy and responsible spending
- Employment readiness and job-maintenance routines
- Transportation & community access
- Driver’s license preparation
- Adult identity development and ownership of responsibilities
Because independent-living skills vary widely from client to client, our approach is highly adaptive. Some clients may be academically advanced but struggle with hygiene or daily organization. Others may manage work responsibilities well but feel overwhelmed by budgeting or household tasks. We assess each client’s current functioning, developmental readiness, and real-world challenges, then personalize the coaching to target the areas where support is most needed.
Our goal is to help clients build the practical skills and internal confidence required to manage adult responsibilities — at a pace and level appropriate for their unique profile.
