What We Do

Coach-Mentors provides individualized coaching for parents and families during (and/or following) their child’s inpatient, residential, or intensive treatment. We offer:

  • Emotional support during the stress of treatment
  • Coping-skill development for managing anxiety, frustration, and uncertainty
  • Communication coaching to strengthen dialogue with treatment teams
  • Education about treatment goals and processes
  • Collaboration with treatment providers
  • Transition planning for a safe, structured return home
  • Boundary-setting and anti-codependency coaching
  • Peer support connections with families facing similar challenges

This service helps parents stay grounded, informed, and empowered throughout the treatment journey.

Who It’s For

Parent & Family Support Coaching is ideal for families who:

  • Have a child in inpatient, residential, or intensive outpatient treatment
  • Feel overwhelmed, anxious, or unsure how to support their child
  • Need help understanding treatment plans, terminology, and expectations
  • Want to improve communication with clinicians and treatment teams
  • Are preparing for a transition home and need guidance on structure and boundaries
  • Struggle with enabling, over-accommodation, or codependent patterns
  • Need support navigating relapse risks, family dynamics, or emotional strain

This service strengthens the family system so treatment gains can be supported—not undermined—at home.

How it Works

Parent & Family Support Coaching provides structured, collaborative guidance throughout treatment and transition.

  • Emotional & Coping Support

We help parents manage stress, frustration, fear, and uncertainty through practical coping strategies, emotional regulation tools, and supportive conversations.

  • Communication & Advocacy

We coach parents to communicate clearly and assertively with treatment teams, understand clinical terminology, and advocate effectively for their child’s needs.

  • Education & Understanding

Parents receive clear explanations of treatment goals, processes, and expectations so they can participate confidently and constructively in their child’s recovery.

  • Collaboration With Treatment Teams

With permission, we attend meetings, share observations, and help ensure the family’s perspective is included in treatment planning.

  • Transition Preparation

We guide families in creating a supportive home environment, anticipating triggers, establishing routines, and accessing aftercare resources.

  • Boundary-Setting & Anti-Codependency Coaching

We help parents identify enabling patterns, set healthy limits, and support their child without over-functioning or losing their own stability.

  • Peer Support

We connect families with others who have navigated similar experiences, normalizing emotions and reducing isolation.

Learn More

Parent & Family Support Coaching helps families stay grounded, informed, and empowered during one of the most stressful experiences a parent can face: having a child in inpatient or residential treatment. Parents often feel overwhelmed by clinical terminology, uncertain about their role, and anxious about what will happen next. Our coaching provides emotional support, practical guidance, and clear communication strategies that help families stay connected and confident throughout the process.

A core focus of this service is healthy boundaries and reduced codependency. Parents learn how to support their child without enabling, how to communicate assertively and compassionately, and how to maintain their own well-being. This strengthens the entire family system and prepares parents for the transition home—where structure, consistency, and clear expectations are essential.

By collaborating with treatment teams, educating families about the therapeutic process, and providing real-time support, Coach-Mentors ensures parents are not navigating treatment alone. Families gain the tools, insight, and confidence needed to reinforce progress, maintain stability, and support long-term recovery.
